Tempting! FINI!

It's finished! I finished it JUST before my last scene in the show last night. It needs to have its ends woven in, but otherwise? FINI!

I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up two different ribbons-- one pale pink, one black organza. It calls for 2" ribbon, but I got one inch-- two wouldn't even fit in the eyelets. Past the eyelets, I only got two rows done-- ran out of yarn. So, I bound off and that was that. It fits!

I'll take pictures and add them to this post later.

Now, for Clapotis! I have stitch markers, I am READY!

Audition Knitting

So, I had a LOT of time to kill before auditions last night-- Run For Your Wife, if you're interested-- as there was a jazzercise class (I think it's an impending sign of the apocalpyse: bad eighties songs, people "sweating". Baad.) and the director hadn't given out scripts. So, I worked on Tempting. My last few inches. Boo hoo. Anyway, the producer came up to me and asked, "What are you knitting?" "Oh, a sweater," I replied. She said that she was a knitter, and I asked her what projects she was working on. "Oh, a baby sweater and a scarf. The scarf is more interesting."

And then, out of her knitting bag, she pulled....

CLAPOTIS!

I kid you not. I squeed over it (I've never seen one in person) and we talked about knitty.com and such. She's not a blogger (surprising), but an avid knitter. She made her Clapotis in Lorna's Laces Bullfrogs and Butterflies in the River colorway (if I remember correctly). The mohair didn't seem a problem-- just gave it a "halo". It is GORGEOUS.

Maybe that's a good sign for the audition. Who knows. But man, I'm DEFINITELY inspired for Clapotis, now!

The Knitting Meme.

Knitting Meme

Do you knit using the English or Continental Method?

I knit a weird version of English where I do everything English, but I throw the yarn with my left hand, not my right. I'm weird. But it works!

How long ago did you learn to knit?

A year and a half ago, right before Thanksgiving of 2003.

Who taught you how?
Books, exclusively.

What was your first FO?

A red and orange Muppet scarf-- made from Geisha and something else, and it's soft and yummy. A fiber snob from the beginning!

Favorite yarn?
Right now? Noro Kureyon. Gorgeous.

Favorite pattern you've knit so far?
I really like Tempting.

Favorite Pattern Source?
Knitty.com

Favorite Needles?
Denises, or Brittany Birch.

Nicest thing you've ever knit?
Methinks the Tempting shall win. I hope Clapotis is nice, too.

Most hated project?
A pink scarf made out of Trendsetter Aura. I don't even wear it.

Who are you going to pass this on to?
Anyone who wants it. :)

Man. Tempting. You're almost done.

Ah, Tempting. You and I are having our fun, aren't we? Your sleeves.. they're not as easy as one might think. I have to fix your holes, which is annoying, but hey, you're my first sweater: it's not going to be perfect.

4 more inches I have to knit, and you and I will be parted, for you to hang out in my dresser drawer with my other, storebought sweaters. I think you'll make them jealous. I still have to buy your ribbon-- I'm thinking dark pink satin? You'll be fabulous.

After you will be Clapotis. No, I'm not hurrying to finish you up to cheat on you with that French hussy. Really. I'm not. Don't you dare slip off that needle! I swear, I'm not rushing!

Clapotis yarn purchased!

Well, I went into Knit On! and picked up my size 8 DPNs, which are happily home to most of my second Tempting sleeve. I'll put the sleeves on tonight. Gah!

I also purchased four skeins of Noro Silk Garden, colorway 84 for Clapotis, so I can start it after I'm done with Tempting. It's gorgeous. I might still make another one out of Lorna's Laces, but for now, silk garden is finnne.

Auditions tonight for Dancing at Lughnasa. I'm bringing SOMETHING on dpns (sleeves, the start of a sock with the Lorna's Laces) to show off my knitty-ness.

YES!

I have reached 14" on my TEMPTING.

This means I can legitimately go to Knit On! tonight and buy size 8 dpns.

And, you know, whatever else they may happen to have that strikes my fancy. Like yarn for Clapotis, perhaps?

YAY! *celebrates*

Found!

I just realized that I have 5 balls of orange mohair. It's more like rust, really. Katia Ingenua.

So what should I make with it?

Tempting update.

Four more inches and I can start on my sleeves for Tempting.

Sock Pattern Found, and REVELATION!

http://www.wendyjohnson.net/blog/sockpattern.htm

I'm going to try that sock pattern.

Also, I realized that I should audition for Dancing at Lughnasa. One of the characters sits around and make socks. The WHOLE show. I can put sockmaking on my resume!

For my records, mostly.

I do not have much of a stash.

I have three balls of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran, which goes to my sweater.
I have two balls of Noro Kuryeon, which goes with my Booga.
I have 3 random balls of sock yarn.
I have 2 balls of Lorna's Laces.
I have some leftover "fun fur" from my first project, a scarf.
I have some leftover Trendsetter Aura in Bubblegum from my fluffy pink scarf.
Aaand I have two balls of alpaca.

That's it! Not much of a stash, eh?

I have decided that these additions MUST be made to my knitting stuff, which is now housed in a lovely dresser repainted by Mark:

A swift
A ball winder
A needle roll (which I shall make myself)

But I now have an organized stash. I need to expand it!!

Februsock.

Well, in my pre-show jitters, I bought sock yarn.

Now, I have purchased sock yarn before, but I have never used it. I have enough sock yarn to make probably six socks. Not pairs, mind you. Individuals.

Now, I have two balls of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Gold Hill , which is just gorge. So. Socking shall commence.

Now, Natalie, which sock pattern did you use? I want to try toe-up.

Off to the theatre!
